The 66th birthday of Amma, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi will be celebrated at Amritapuri campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on September 27, Friday. For all these years now Amma’s Birthday has become a golden moment when lakhs of people from around the world come together in love, compassion and selflessness.
Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri said that around two lakh people were expected to attend the celebrations, titled ‘Amritavarsham 66’. The celebrations will witness the presence of world-renowned experts from several fields of excellence, besides political figures and performing artists from across the country and abroad.
This year, Shri. Rajanath Singh, Honorable mInister of Defence, Government of India will hand over ₹5 Lakhs to families of 40 CRPF soldiers who sacrificed their lives protecting the nation and ₹1 lakh to those who suffered during the 2019 monsoon havoc. A new center named Amrita School of Sustainable Development will also be developed. Along with this, the Math will sponsor 100 students for completing their Ph.D. A technology center under the Department of Science and Technology is also on the anvil. In line with the goal set by the PM, Amrita family will contribute towards the reduction of one-time plastics. Amrita Hospital, Kochi will provide free treatment for 400 people.
