Amrita Niketanam Children’s Care Home at Paripally, Kollam, Kerala

Amrita Niketanam was started in 1989 when Amma was requested to take over the debt and management of a bankrupt children’s home in Parippally, Kerala. Amma diverted the funds set aside to build the Kali Temple of the Ashram and completely renovated the orphanage and transformed the atmosphere with a profound concern for the children’s wellbeing. Buildings were upgraded, medical care and nutritious food were provided. The children began to feel a sense of security, many for the first time in their lives. Today Amrita Niketanam is home to 600 children.
