Sivaratri, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is celebrated on the moonless night of the month of Phalguna, which is the fourteenth day in the Krishna paksha or dark half. Owing to special planetary conjunction, spiritual practices are done on this day are considered to be especially auspicious and beneficial.
Amritapuri celebrated Shivratri in the Divine Presence of Amma. The day started with Ganapati Homa followed Sri Rudram Chanting, Mrityunjaya Homa, Mediation with Amma & Bhajans led by Amma. Amma gave Shivratri message and at the stroke of the midnight Amma led everyone with chanting Lokah Samasthah Sukhino Bhavantu. Bhajans continued throughout the night till the next day.
